The Egyptian Book of the Dead

More accurately "The Book of Coming Forth by Day," this collection of spells, prayers, and instructions was placed in Egyptian tombs to guide the deceased through the Duat (underworld) and into the afterlife. The spells address every challenge the soul may face, from the weighing of the heart against Ma'at's feather to the transformation into an akh (blessed spirit).
