The Tower

divinationhermeticismchaos magic

Card XVI of the Major Arcana. Lightning strikes a tall stone tower, shattering its crown. Two figures fall from the heights as flames pour from the windows. The sky is black. Upright, The Tower represents sudden upheaval, revelation, destruction of false structures, chaos, and the breaking down of what was built on shaky foundations. It is jarring but ultimately liberating. Reversed, it warns of fear of change, delayed disaster, averting catastrophe, or personal transformation happening internally rather than externally. Associated with Mars and the element of Fire. The Tower shatters the Fool's illusions — a violent awakening that clears ground for something truer.
