The Moon
divinationhermeticismspiritism
Card XVIII of the Major Arcana. A full moon shines between two towers as a winding path leads from a pool into distant hills. A crayfish crawls from the water, and a dog and wolf howl at the moon. Upright, The Moon represents illusion, fear, the subconscious, intuition, and the deceptive nature of appearances. Things are not what they seem — trust your instincts but verify. Reversed, it indicates clarity emerging, release of fear, facing repressed emotions, or misinterpreting signs. Associated with Pisces and the element of Water. The Moon plunges the Fool into the deepest waters of the unconscious, where shadow and instinct rule.
