The Magician

divinationhermeticismceremonial magic

Card I of the Major Arcana. The Magician stands before a table bearing the four suit symbols — cup, pentacle, sword, and wand — representing mastery over all elements. One hand points to heaven, the other to earth, channeling "as above, so below." An infinity symbol floats above his head. Upright, The Magician signifies willpower, manifestation, resourcefulness, and the focused application of skill. You have everything you need to succeed. Reversed, it warns of manipulation, trickery, wasted talent, or illusion. Astrologically linked to Mercury and the element of Air. The Magician is the first act of conscious creation in the Fool's Journey.
