The Hierophant

divinationhermeticismkabbalah

Card V of the Major Arcana. The Hierophant sits between two pillars wearing papal vestments, his right hand raised in benediction. Two acolytes kneel before him, and two crossed keys lie at his feet. Upright, The Hierophant represents tradition, spiritual wisdom, religious institutions, conformity, and mentorship. He suggests learning from established teachings. Reversed, he indicates rebellion against convention, unorthodox approaches, or questioning authority. Astrologically linked to Taurus and the element of Earth. The Hierophant is the bridge between the divine and humanity — the teacher who transmits sacred knowledge through established forms.
