The Hermit

divinationhermeticismceremonial magic

Card IX of the Major Arcana. A cloaked elder stands atop a mountain, holding a lantern containing a six-pointed star in one hand and a staff in the other. Upright, The Hermit signifies introspection, solitude, spiritual seeking, and inner guidance. It calls you to withdraw from the noise of the world to find your own truth. Reversed, it warns of isolation, loneliness, withdrawal from life, or refusing the wisdom you have gained. Astrologically linked to Virgo and the element of Earth. The Hermit represents the Fool's turn inward — the contemplative phase where wisdom is distilled from experience.
