Temperance

Card XIV of the Major Arcana. An angel with one foot on land and one in water pours liquid between two cups in a continuous flow. A path leads to distant mountains where a golden crown glows. Irises grow at the water's edge. Upright, Temperance represents balance, patience, moderation, harmony, and the blending of opposites into a unified whole. It calls for a middle path and measured approach. Reversed, it warns of imbalance, excess, impatience, or misalignment of purpose. Astrologically linked to Sagittarius and the element of Fire. Temperance teaches the Fool the alchemical art of synthesis — that true mastery lies in the graceful union of opposing forces.
