Chiron
Chiron is a small body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, classified as both a comet and a minor planet. Discovered in 1977, it was named after the wise centaur of Greek mythology who was a healer, teacher, and mentor to heroes — yet carried an unhealable wound. In astrology, Chiron represents the "Wounded Healer" — the place in your chart where you carry a deep, often chronic wound that becomes the source of your greatest wisdom and capacity to help others. Chiron's orbital period is approximately 50 years, and the Chiron Return at age 49-51 is a major life passage of healing, acceptance, and integration. By sign, Chiron describes the nature of the wound; by house, the life area where it manifests. Chiron transits can reopen old wounds but also offer opportunities for profound healing. The key teaching of Chiron is that some wounds are not meant to be cured — they are meant to be transformed into medicine for others.
